Two Hand Control Safety Switches (TouchSafe)

Two‑hand control safety switches are used in machines and applications where there is a significant risk to the operator’s hands, such as presses, punching machines, bending equipment, and cutting machinery. The two‑hand control principle requires the operator to use both hands simultaneously to initiate a machine cycle or hazardous movement. This ensures that the operator’s hands remain outside the danger zone throughout the operation. TouchSafe solutions are designed to comply with the requirements of ISO 13851 and are used as part of a monitored two‑hand control safety system.

Our product range includes IDEM Safety TouchSafe two‑hand control stations, manufactured from robust die‑cast metal and protected to IP65, making them suitable for demanding industrial environments. The control stations can be equipped with either ZF (Zero Force) capacitive touch buttons or MF (Mechanical Force) mechanical pushbuttons. ZF buttons detect the presence or proximity of the operator’s hand without requiring mechanical actuation force, making them ideal for repetitive operations where improved ergonomics and reduced operator fatigue are important. MF buttons are spring‑loaded mechanical pushbuttons intended for applications with less frequent operation. Both button types feature LED status indication to support clear operation, setup, and diagnostics. 

TouchSafe two‑hand control stations are designed to prevent circumvention of the safety function. Button spacing and ergonomic mounting height ensure that the system cannot be activated using one hand or other parts of the body. The system requires an external two‑hand control safety relay to monitor the simultaneous actuation of both buttons and to meet Type IIIC safety requirements. An adjustable floor‑mounted stand is also available, allowing correct positioning and safe installation near the machine.
