Panel PC´s

Unlike a traditional computer setup, a panel PC does not require a separate monitor or external housing. It is designed to be used directly as part of machines, control panels, and automation systems.

Panel PCs are built to withstand demanding industrial environments, including vibration, moisture, and extreme temperature variations. They are often protected against dust and water, ensuring reliable operation even in harsh conditions.

Most panel PCs feature IP protection ratings (typically IP65 or higher), ensuring effective protection against dust and water. For more demanding applications, such as in the food and pharmaceutical industries, hygienic versions are available with protection levels up to IP69K, allowing the device to withstand high-pressure washdown and frequent cleaning.

In terms of construction, panel PCs are rugged and optimized for industrial use. The enclosures are typically made of metal or reinforced plastics, protecting internal components from shocks and vibrations.

Many panel PCs also use a fanless design. By eliminating cooling fans, reliability is improved and maintenance is reduced, as dust cannot accumulate inside the device and there are no moving parts subject to wear.

The displays are designed to deliver high image quality even in industrial environments. For example, a 10.1″ Full HD display typically features a contrast ratio of around 900:1 and brightness levels of 360–1000 nits, ensuring good visibility even in bright conditions.

Many displays include an anti-glare surface treatment along with optically bonded protective glass. This improves readability, reduces reflections, and enhances mechanical durability. Image quality remains consistent even at wide viewing angles, which can reach up to 170° in both directions.

Panel PCs commonly use 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratios and are available with or without touchscreen functionality. Touch options include both projected capacitive (P-CAP) and resistive technologies, depending on the requirements of the application.

Memory and storage are often expandable to meet customer-specific needs, allowing the system to be tailored for applications such as automation, monitoring, and data acquisition.

Panel PCs support multiple operating systems, including Windows IoT / Embedded, Linux, and Android, ensuring seamless integration with a wide range of industrial software platforms.

In addition, these systems incorporate industrial-grade components such as TPM security chips and other reliability-enhancing features, ensuring secure and stable operation in demanding environments.

While panel PCs provide sufficient performance for industrial control and monitoring tasks, they are primarily optimized for stability, longevity, and environmental durability rather than maximum computing power.

Typically, these systems include multiple USB ports, various serial interfaces (RS-232/422/485), and Ethernet ports for networking and data communication. In addition, panel PCs often feature video interfaces such as HDMI or DisplayPort for connecting external displays or other systems.

Many models also include modern connectivity options, such as USB 3.2 Type-C and Type-A ports, high-speed Ethernet connections (e.g. 2.5 Gbit/s), and additional features like audio outputs, status LEDs, and multiple video outputs.

Furthermore, panel PCs may support expansion cards and wireless connectivity, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, providing additional flexibility for different applications.
